Good weekend, all!
I just wanted to update everyone on Charlie's great progress. He no longer gets the label "Momma's boy" around here, he has at last discovered the amazing entity that is Daddy!
He's known Daddy was around for most of his life, and he's even really liked and very much loved Daddy for most of his life, but never before has he chosen Daddy over Mommy. Of course, I realize that's just where he is in life, it's the way life is layed out in front of him. Mommy is here 24 hours a day every day. Mommy nurses him. The world is Mommy.
But no more! While he still clings to me as much as he can, he now is Daddy's little boy! If Daddy's in the room, he reaches for him. If Daddy leaves the room he either cries for him or follows hot on his heels! And sometimes...sometimes when he cries...it makes me just tear up to say the words, but sometimes when he cries, it's only Daddy that can soothe him.
For all of my friends who are mothers, are there more beautiful words in the world than what I just wrote??? I don't think so!
Ahhhhhhhhhh............life is good.

Oh for heaven's sake....
I just read that last post and literally laughed out loud. Gees, who is that whiny girl?? Why is it that when one thing isn't right in our lives, we forget how many things are going so well? Focusing on the more challenging parts does not make way for newer or better thoughts to come in.
So here's all the good stuff:
I started my masters program on Tuesday! I'm now officially working toward my masters of special education. I'm so proud of myself I could just spit!
I have a new blog! It's for the online newspaper, the Pilot online. If you google my name, first and last, it will take you right to it! It's exciting, I feel like Carrie Bradshaw!
I think I found a job ~ let me say not just A job, but THE job! I've been willing to take anything with a paycheck for a while now, and not getting any bites. I need a reminder every now and then that everything happens for a reason. I got the call yesterday for a school I desperately want to work for, and alternative behavior school working for a woman I desperately want to be my mentor. She's amazing, and in one conversation I was reminded of all of the things I've been forgetting about working with children, esp ones with special needs. I will interview officially in a week or two, but I know she'll hire me. This is the one.
Ok, all the good news I can think of! Stay tuned for much more positive posts, and no more whining from Brandy!!

The days go on
Well, the Brennan bunch isn't doing so well these days, but the days still press on. We endure, and we try to learn from our mistakes and our misconceptions. We move from day to day, trying to remember what holds us together.
Sometimes relationships are the hardest things in the world. Some days they make parenting look easy.
Our kids are happy. They are off to school this week, and all three seem very pleased with it. They come home with good reports from their teachers, and they look forward to getting on the bus the next day.
Our baby Charlie is cutting teeth, still. He's a bit of a mess, with the drool and the fussiness, but truth be told, he's a wonderful baby. He's easy.
We should feel so successful when we see what we've created at home, with our kids.
But sometimes I really wonder whether or not we should have done this to them without the legally binding contract to each other.
Ah, well, such is life. We learn from each and every day. We will continue to learn, and we will continue to find ways to make it work.

Connor's birthday
Finally, I have some beautiful photos from Connor's fourth birthday! He had soooo much fun, as you can clearly see! I think it's really great to see these photos and think back to last year. He's had the most tremendous year, and I'm sooooo proud of him. This year was a new experience for him, really, as so many things lately have been. This was truly a birthday to celebrate. He is not only four, he's a "big four!" as he likes to tell us! So happy birthday Connor, I'm awfully glad to get to share these photos with everyone!

Connor's birthday
Hey all!
I don't know if this will work, but here's a link to see Connor's birthday video! I will be putting photos of his birthday on here as soon as someone gives me some of them, but for now, here it is: http://www.photoshow.net/watch/
Looking at that address, I suspect you will not get to see it. Hmmmmm....
Anyway, for those of you who know us well, this has been an enormous year for Connor! We are so proud of him, it's unreal how much he's accomplished this year!
I hope you get to see the photo show, and I really hope you get to see photos on here soon!!
Have a great day!

Well good morning then
Hi all,
Well here we are, at 6:00 in the morning (isn't that the start of an 80's song?), and I can barely see the screen because I fell asleep last night at about 8:30 while putting my baby to bed.
My job hunt is still on, I am still unemployed for the 2007-2008 school year. I have a job interview this morning that doesn't sound terribly promising, but my hopes are high just the same. Now if I can only get someone to help me watch all of these kids!
My one little boy I babysit has ADHD, and just found out his parents are getting divorced three weeks ago, and then a couple of weekends ago his dumbass father took him to the park with his new girlfriend, and made out with her in front of him. Now he's a big risk for me. He has these huge meltdowns where he freaks out, screams, throws things, etc. He threw all of my patio furniture off the porch the last time he was here. Who on earth do you get to watch a group like this for an hour and a half?? Lucky for me the interview is local, so I may not be gone all day.
Coffee tastes really good. Lots of splenda, lots of milk, really strong coffee. Mmmmmmm.....
Tomorrow is Connor's fourth birthday, so stay tuned for photos of that! His progress is so tremendous these days that it's just unbelievable. I swear he's like a different child than the one who moved into this house with us last August. He slept in a crib, he had no words at all. Now he talks up a storm! And of course he's in a bed, now if he'd just sleep in it all night! Of course vey few of our kids are sleeping through the night at this particular juncture, so oh well. Such is parenthood. But look for the pics, I'll put them on here on Thursday or Friday, I imagine.
Robert enjoyed his day, too! I may end up regretting the Blackberry I bought him on ebay. He is either on it or reading about it or messing with the settings or on the other phone talking about it ALL THE TIME. Hopefully the newness will wear off and it will be the very helpful tool I imagined it to be!!
So that's all I've got this morning! We're just here trying to get our schedule all back to normal, and looking forward to the upcoming school year. It's only a couple of weeks left now, and everyone will be off to school! And Charlie will be off to the babysitter, (sigh). I am happy for Jackson to start first grade, I think he'll love it. I'm worried about Katelyn, she has to start her first SOL grade, and that's going to suck. I'm happy for Connor, he loves his preK class, and misses his routine and his friends. But poor Charlie! His whole world is about to get turned upside down. (sigh)
I hope everyone has a great day! I'm going to interview with a daycare that provides PreK, Kindergarten, and first grade. Let's hope it will pay the bills. It would be nice to work somewhere so close by.
:)

Tennessee swimmer
Wow! Look at my baby swimming! Two weeks ago he was afraid to get his head wet, now he's a fish! I just had to put some vacation photos on here, I'm so proud of him!
As a side note, Happy Birthday to Robert! Yesterday my sexy boyfriend turned 45 years old. It's hard to believe, looking at him!
And while we're talking about him, can I just tell you what a good guy he is? For those of you who keep up with this blog, I just have to tell you that this one is a keeper.
I think I may keep him around a while, you know? We have our frustrations, and we have our moments, but we make it work.
Thank heavens for that.
So here's my new post, it's a bit random. Hope you enjoy the new photos!

Relationships
Hmmm...yes, relationships are hard. Funny thing is that they are usually not as hard as we think they are.
Turns out all of my frustration, though clearly it was not unfounded, it may have just been a bit premature. I do get frustrated a lot, but apparently I was facing my first round with PMS in 19 months. Yea me. Isn't that fun? Breastfeeding a baby keeps those kinds of things at bay for a long time, but alas it has all returned, including some issues with my mood. Fun for Robert, but then he's not them most evenly-mooded guy in the world either, so I'm sure he understands.
Pictures are easy to remedy. He now has a lovely picture of me on his desk, and I'm making him a family collage to hang. I'm making us a beautiful framed piece for above our bed, it's a black frame with six white mattes inside, for six black and white photos of us. It will be really pretty in lieu of a headboard, I think. I'm making a small version with family photos, not just us, for his office. See how easy that was? Oversights don't always have to mean problems.
As for anything else I've been frustrated about, well.....like I said. It wasn't all unfounded, but maybe I don't have to make a big deal about it. Sometimes life is much easier when we just let go of things.
Like I said before, I feel lucky to have Robert and his family in my life. I don't have real complaints, but sometimes it's fun to air frustrations, just to vent. This life is a blessing. I have four happy children, and they get two happy parents, most of the time, and I think that makes us all lucky.
Of course, with the return of instability and hormonal surges, let's just see how I feel tomorrow! LOL!!

Good morning to Jackson in TN!!
This morning's post is for my son, who is visiting TN this week.
I couldn't express adequately how quiet and still my house is without him here! I babysit three kids and have a baby in the house, but the house is quiet and still. Strange phenomenon about your children, when they're gone, your house is not a home!! :)
So here's to Jackson:
Good morning sweetheart!!
I am so proud of you for swimming under water! I hope MiMi is taking lots of pictures so I can see the event myself, or maybe she'll even remember to get out the video camera! You haven't missed much around here, yesterday was spent in a rousing and very long game of Dance Dance Revolution. Alyssa got 9 A's in a row on Bye Bye Baby Balloon! It was the big news of the day! After much practice, Codey got an A, too!
They are also enjoying your Star Station quite a bit as well.
It is very hot here, so we're hoping to go over to Jill's today. We haven't seen her in a couple of weeks, but I hear Zane had one more surgery! I'll let you know how it looks, and how he's doing.
I am making a CD for you that you'll love! I won't tell you what it is, so it will be a surprise, but the girls brought it over today for me to copy for you, and you sure will love it!
Have a beautiful day, and swim a lot! Take good care of MiMi, Poppy, and Aunt Billie! Call me a lot!
I love you!!!!!!!
To all:
Can you believe my baby is gone for over a week????? Wow, it's nearly impossible to stand!
Have a great day everyone!
Oh, and Ginger: I'm in Chesapeake! I saw your blog and responded somewhere on it. You're only a few hours away! I'm teaching and starting my masters, and I see you're working on your grad degree too? What are you studying? Email me!

Questions
Hello all,
I see no one has an overnight story for Jackson, oh well. I'm sure he'll live without them!
We are having a good morning thus far! Charlie didn't sleep much, he's got at least four teeth coming in, though I suspect six. Poor guy, he doesn't quite know what to do with himself. He's standing quite well these days, and beginning to cruise as well! I have to photograph that and add it in, it's just way too cute!
Jackson is leaving me tomorrow for two glorious weeks at his grandparents house in TN. I have NO idea what on earth I'm supposed to do here without him! He may come home next week, but I think he'll want to stay longer and I'm prepared to let him. He adores his grandparents, and his relationship with them needs to stay strong. They're great people, and I love their influence on his life.
So I see my last plea for a story prompted no replies, let's try another one.
When I ask Jackson what his favorite thing he's ever done, he says to me "I've played Dance Dance Revolution." Now that's dedication to a game, right there. One girl I babysit agreed with him, that Dance Dance is the best thing ever to do. Another girl I babysit says going to the beach is the best, while the boy I babysit says it's going to a place called Kangaroo Jacks, where he gets to do a lot of jumping.
I love telling the kids stories about me as a kid, and what I loved to do, and of things I know Robert did as a kid. I tell them about my weeklong trips to the beach, or birthday parties I went to, or even just a day here or there that I loved.
Tell me one thing you loved to do when you were little. Just one, and you don't have to use that many words. I'll embellish.
My kids are very involved with my blog, so speak up!
Thanks!!
Have a fantastic morning! We are going to the BEACH!!!

The sleepover
So, Jackson had his first sleepover last night! He's spent time away from me before, with his grandparents, so I really thought he would LOVE a sleepover. Any guesses as to what time he came home?
The funny part is that before I said he could do it, I told him I couldn't pick him up in the middle of the night, but that he could call me if he got scared. His response to that was "Mom, I'm 6, not 3!"
So at 11:30 imagine my "surprise" when I get a call that says "Hi Brandy, Jackson really wants to come home so I'm putting him in the car to bring him home!"
Wasn't it nice that she brought him? I thought so too, but my little boy was so disappointed in himself when he woke up this morning that he could barely stand it! He cried for like an hour, and we kept telling him it was no big deal, that we all had to get picked up in the middle of the night on our first sleepover! But he kept saying he was disappointed in himself, because he didn't WANT to want to come home.
So, anyone want to share "first sleepover" stories with me so I can tell them to Jackson? He needs all the support he can get about now, so please share!!
Thanks!
All is well today in the fam, hope all is well with all of yours as well!!

Friday
Hi all!
Happy Birthday to DeeAnna Brennan! Of course it isn't quite today, but we're celebrating it today.
Today has been pretty average, I suppose. I took three kids to Target, which is an event in and of itself! They did all right, really. My baby is very happy today despite getting shots yesterday!
Oh, right, the nine month well baby check! He did great, of course! He's 20 lbs, 12 oz, and 28 inches long. He's in the 50th % for height and weight, but the 90th for head circumference! We like to call him the human head! I guess now we know it's not our imagination!
But all systems were go, he checked out just fine! His doctor says he can have yogurt up to twice a day, so he's ecstatic about meal times now! As you can see, he wasn't missing any meals as it was!!
I'm sending in my resumes to all of the schools I can find that are hiring. I sent them out already to public schools, but just did to private schools. So keep your fingers crossed, or say a prayer, or hope for an alignment of the stars, whichever you think will work. It's time for me to go back to work!
I also am filling out my application to start my masters! Now THAT is exciting.
I think that concludes Friday! Have a great weekend, I'll probably check in tomorrow!
And by the way PLEASE sign my guestbook! It only takes a second!!

Good morning all!
Why hi there!
It's another beautiful morning here at the BHCS household! I'm watching all the kids play a rousing game of Vampire Super Hero Rescue. What is that? Only they know, really.
Charlie is just watching, soaking it all in!
So we're on this new kick, "going green," I guess. We're making strong attempts at whole foods rather than prepackaged foods. If anyone has any good websites related to this I'd love to read them! There don't seem to be any whole food stores here in Hampton Roads, which quite frankly is a shock! I think I saw one online, actually, but it was quite far from me! I am entertained by some parts of it. Like getting paper bags at the grocery store. I know that plastic bags are both cheaper and easier to recycle, but we don't have the resources to do it, so we get paper because we can put those in the recycle bins. LOL! Whatever. Our only big challenges food-wise are our Friday night pizza night tradition. Our kids require frozen pizza on Fridays, so I guess we'll just have to let that one slip. Does it make a big difference if you don't get the crap actually out of your system, but instead sustain it with one weekly food full of all of the things you're trying to rid your family of?
Robert has cholesterol issues and I apparently have arthritis, which is of course ridiculous, but true. If anyone knows any particularly good exercises or dietary requirements for arthritic folks, throw that in too, please.
Has anyone ever heard of those enzymes you can take to make your body process dairy, wheat, and soy more easily?
Ok, that's today. I'm going to upload some wedding photos soon from Sarah's wedding, if anyone would like to see! They're quite lovely, Sarah is such a beautiful person, not just in photos, but in person and personality as well.
Have a great day, all! I have a ton of cleaning to do, so I'd best get to it! I'm so thankful to have Swiffer in my life!!

Tuesday morning
Good morning to all! It's a new day here in the Brennan, Horney, Cantillon, Solis household! What a mouthful! I have my charges, as we like to call them, here with me and they're playing a peaceful game of Junior Monopoly with Jackson, who just politely asked "My house please?" Ah, what a cutie!
Charlie is crawling like crazy now! He's also learned to scream very loudly! But it's not anger, it's total amusement! And now he's sitting here at my feet chewing on an empty sippy cup! He's very curious, just like Jackson was! They're so fun to watch!
We have a new baby in our midst! Robert has a great nephew just 8 months younger than his son! I'm so amused by that I could just giggle! Nicholaus Javier, isn't that a fabulous name? By mom's request no photos will be uploaded, so you'll have to believe me that he's quite stunning!!
I'm on the job search these days! I should be back to teaching my own class again in September, and I'm actually, surprisingly, quite excited about it!
I have hungry kids and a fussy baby, so that's all for this morning. If I think of anything relatively entertaining to say I'll have to add it later!! Have a great day!!

oops!!
Um...where are all those photos I just uploaded???? Sheesh, this is not as easy as it looks!!
My sec ond posting, otherwise known as ????
Ok, so I'd love to update you on the day, but nothing really exciting has happened except I've discovered I'm totally inept at blogs! I want to add photos, but haven't found how. Any ideas for me? Ok, so clearly I stand corrected. Am I the world's worst blogger? Quite possibly, but in the immortal words of Katelyn, age 8, "it is what it is." Isn't she brilliant?

My first blog posting
Hi there all, I just had to get started on this blog bandwagon. We have sooo many kids, and so much happens from day to day, and on top of that, as you know, my friends are not confined to an area. You guys are just all over the place! (aren't I lucky to have so many??)
So it's July, and Jackson's six now, if you can believe that. Charlie's 9 months, Katelyn's 8, and Connor's on the verge of turning a whopping four years old. Seems like they couldn't be so old, but here we are!
We just had our first family vacation, and shared it with my family, so I would say it's well documented, and of course I'll be sharing that documentation before the day's over! First I have to take Jackson to Best Buy to spend that birthday money that's burning a hole in his pocket!!
So here we all are, and we're this great family, with all of the great-family-problems we all face each day to make us a pretty normal family in the end. I'd love it if you guys had comments on our life or my posts, and please sign the guest book, if I have one of those!! And special thanks to Caryn for introducing me to this blog place and unknowingly giving me motivation to create a blog!
